Silver Quarters

I came across some liberty quarters and one Barber quarter today. The Barber is a 1912 and has no mint mark. it is worn but in decent condition, but then again I do not know how to rate them at this point. the liberty's are pretty warn down but are still pretty.

are these quarters worth anything more than their silver content? or are they more valuable because of their numismatic character?

there is an upcomming coinshow here and I was going to go there and see what they say about the barber but I am pretty ignorant about it so your thoughts are welcome,

I am going to get a digital camera soon so I can take some pictures of the interesting coins I come across to help with my posts, but for now I dont have a picture.

Thanks Negative1,

that helps a bit, but I need to first figure out how to determine the quality, like some visual referance or explanation of how do I tell if it is good or fine or beter or worse. but at least I know that it is at the least worth 4 bucks and that is pretty cool!!!,

gunna keep this one as it is my first I have ever seen :yippee:

Coin prices vary depending on who's buying and generally dealers set the price.

If your liberty quarters have readable dates then YES they have numismatic value. If not - then at least they're silver.

The same with barbers which should be worth slightly more.

These should get you started. You might also check out ANA's photograde (published book), but the links below should give you a good idea.

Best of luck!

For those of you interested in grading other denominations, here is a link to them.

http://www.stampandcoin.com/cgi-bin/...tem=coins.html

Usually if you click on the denomination and scroll down past the offerings, you'll see a link called "Grading [insert coin here]" Click on that and you'll see coin and what makes it a certain grade.
